Rooted in the Richardson Community.

Pamela Hughes is a proud Richardson native, a Terrace Tiger, a Richardson Junior High Falcon and a graduate of the Richardson High School Law Magnet. She met her husband, Steven, in Richardson as well, while both were earning their undergraduate degrees at the University of Texas at Dallas.

Today, Pamela possesses nearly 20 years of professional experience in communications and public engagement, including change management, crisis communications, strategic partnerships and public policy work. Her poise under pressure and ability to get to the heart of an issue will serve the RISD community and constituents of District 2 as well as they have served her clients over the years.

Although they were living in Washington, D.C. when their first son was born, Pamela and Steven knew they wanted their children to benefit from the public school system they both believed in. In 2014, they returned to Richardson, confident in the high-quality education RISD would provide. Today, Pamela and Steven are parents to a 6th grader at Yale Elementary and a 4th grader at Dartmouth Elementary. Pamela is active at both schools, supporting the Dartmouth PTA, serving as a Yale PTA officer and volunteering at numerous other RISD campuses.

A member of Leadership Richardson Class XL and a 2024-25 RISD Ambassador, Pamela is passionate about fostering strong ties between neighbors and city leaders and about giving back to the community and school district that shaped her.

When she’s not busy with her work as a full-time communications director or volunteering in the community, you’ll find Pamela reading a book (or three!), taking a yoga class or enjoying Richardson’s best local coffee shops.
